Todd GitlinTodd Gitlin

Todd Gitlin is a professor of journalism and sociology at Columbia University. As a student in the 1960s he helped organise the first national demonstration against the Vietnam War. He is the author of eleven books including The Sixties, a finalist in the Robert F Kennedy Book Award, and The Twilight of Common Dreams - both Notable Books in the New York Times Book Review. His latest book The Intellectuals and The Flag argues for a renewed sense of patriotism among the intellectuals on the left. A sought after broadcaster and writer, Todd Gitlin is on the editorial board of Dissent is and the North American editor of openDemocracy.net.
